AN EXCITING TRIP TO TERIBERKA
ABOUT THE EXCURSION
The way to Teriberka is miles of the endless tundra, rocky hills and canyons, which reveal the character of the northern nature. We will pass along the picturesque coastline, stop at several viewpoints, plunge into the atmosphere of Arctic tundra, passing abandoned military towns.
In the Pomor village you will learn how the village used to live during the Great Patriotic War. You will see the main cultural objects dedicated to this period. You'll admire a spectacular view of Batareiskiy waterfall, the artillery battery located on the top of the hill, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the sea, islands and Teriberka lighthouse.
Near the vessel skeletons we will talk about the ships that were involved in fishery in the 30s-40s of the XX century. We will commemorate military men who died during the Great Patriotic War, laying flowers at the local cemetery.

The tour points
Murmansk - Teriberka - Murmansk
Teriberka is one of the oldest fishing settlements in Murmansk region. In the pre-war decade Teriberka began to develop rapidly. Fishing artels appeared on this territory, which later merged into collective farm named after Voroshilov. During the Great Patriotic War Teriberka was a rear settlement beyond the front line, its population increased considerably. Large families from all over the USSR came here: there was a shortage of food in the country while the sea was always full of fish.
DEPARTURE
We start in Murmansk from the Five Corners Square at 9am. In three hours we will be in the village of Teriberka. This is our start of the trip. During the trip we will watch a series of documentaries "The war in the Polar region".
1 POINT. COASTAL DEFENCE BATTERY
The excursion starts in the northern part of Teriberka village - Lodeynoye. It is a 1 km walk to the starting point of the trip. The path passes the Small Batarey Lake, which ends with Teriberka waterfall after fifty metres.
2 POINT.
THE LIGHTHOUSE.
We have chosen an excellent location, with an outstanding view of the Teriberka lighthouse, constructed in 1896.
3 POINT. THE GRAVEYARD OF SHIPS.
Carry out a crossing (part of the way by vehicle) to the southern part of Teriberka settlement. On the way beside the road, in a small harbour, the remains of about 12 ships are spread out.
4 POINT. TERYBERKA HOUSE OF CULTURE.
- Commemorative board for the victims of the 14 June 1942 bombing
- Monument to the people of Teriberka, the defenders of the Motherland
- Memorial boards to the poets Konstantin Bajov and Vladimir Smirnov
5 POINT. MEMORIAL FOR SOLDIERS WHO DIED DURING THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR
- Taking the bus to the village cemetery.
- Laying flowers and honouring the memory of those who fell in the fight against the Nazi invaders with a minute's silence.
ENDING THE TOUR.
Back to Murmansk. The feature film "The Torpedo Fighters" is offered for viewing during the trip.
WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU:

Clothing
You should wear comfortable, waterproof shoes. Your outfit is to protect you from wind, rain, and, in winter, from snow. Most of the walking part of the tour is in tundra. Have a small backpack with dry socks and extra warm clothing.
Catering
No meals are provided. It is recommended to grab a snack, a water bottle or a thermos of hot drinks. If you wish, you can visit one of the local restaurants on the coast.
